The best pet EVER!!!

So we have the best pet. Her name is Betty. She feeds herself, poops everywhere, (but I don't have to clean it up), is totally self sufficient, and my kids love her. She is our housefly. Yes I have a housefly pet and I love her. Ask my kids about the fly flying around my house and they will be the ones to tell you that it is "Mom's pet Betty."

The joke started a few weeks ago when the kids were begging me for a dog. A fly happened to fly by and I simply told them that we already had a pet! I told the kids that the fly's name was Betty, and honestly they accepted that and have not bugged me since about getting a dog!

Funny Story........

One of my brother's best friends growing up is named Adam. He is very cool. Right now he is hitchhiking all over the U.S. When my brother got married in Vegas he hitched a ride there and said that he was going to be in California some time. So whenever I see anyone hitching a ride or holding a sign on the corner I always look for him. My goal was to someday find him and pick him up.

Well while my parents were here visiting, we were leaving their hotel to go back to our house for dinner. Right as we got on the freeway a guy was walking and had just pulled out a cardboard sign. I said to Akoni, that kind of looks like Adam, but what really was the possibility of that. I almost called my Dad who was driving behind us to tell him that and to look and see if it was Adam, but I didn't.

We got home a few minutes later someone walked into my house on the phone and I was wondering who it was because it didn't sound like my dad. Then my mom walked in and said "Hey look who we found!" IT was Adam! I was so excited! He had just gotten dropped off by someone and was trying to hitch a ride up to San Francisco that night. So we fed him and stuffed his pants pockets full of Oatmeal and whatever else he would let us. Then my Dad and Akoni took him to 711 to get a drink and drove him about 1 hour north so he could finish hitching up to San Francisco where he had a friend that he was going to stay with.

Seeing Adam really just made my day. I was so excited to see him and know that he was safe. He has been hitching rides all over the country for a few years and is having such a great time. I think it's so funny that he does it, but he is loving it. And he is such a great guy, but never in a million years would I ever pick him up if I didn't know him. Would you?

4th of July!!

My parents came and visited us for the weekend of the 4th. We had a great time at the beach, swimming, BBQing and doing fireworks. The first picture is of the kids in the morning before we went to our Church Waffle Breakfast. I figured I had to take a picture before they ate and ruined their shirts!

I think fireworks are way too expensive and kind of a waste of money, so we let the kids only get 4 fireworks each which cost $20 and lasted about 30 seconds each. Luckily we had a whole ton of sparklers left over from last year so that was fun. And while we were doing our fireworks a neighbor came out with like the Costco bundle of fireworks and so we just watched their show after we were done. You can't really tell in the picture, but on the ground by my kids my mom drew a chalk box for the kids to stand in (great thinking) so that we didn't have to keep yelling at them to stand back. They knew that that was as close as they could get. I'll have to remember that for next year, it worked perfectly!

This is one of our neighbors fireworks. Ours were not this big.

This was the yummy jello dessert that we made.

Fun at the Beach

We went to the beach a few weeks ago and it was so much fun. A few friends met us there and the weather was perfect. I actually burned my back sooooooo bad even though I did use sunscreen. But we still had a great time. I have never used this tent before at the beach. IT's really cool, it's the tent for our playpin, but it comes with a tarp to put over it to shade the tent. So Kamden just hung out in it the whole time and was protected from the wind and the sand. It was great! I also love the pictures of Kenyon with his sandwich hanging out of his mouth. He was wanting me to help him so that he didn't drop his sandwich, but of course I was laughing and had to take a picture instead!

Carmel

So we went to Carmel to feed the Chipmunks. You can take peanuts to the beach and tons of chipmunks will come and eat them right out of your hand. I never knew you could do this. We have been here for over 3 years and I just learned about this. As we were walking down to the beach there was this pretty gate and so I took Adriann's picture in front of it. I am going to have to go back to this gate and get some prefessional pictures, I thought it was a great backdrop for a picture.

Carmel cont...

More pictures on the beach at carmel after feeding the chipmunks. I could not keep Kenyon out of the trees, they are perfect for climbing.

Here are the kids feeding the chipmunks. It was so much fun. And while we were feeding them the birds got into our lunch! They pecked thru the packaging and ate all the crackers!

Father's Day

Akoni wanted a Banana Cream Pie for Father's day. I thought I did a pretty good job at it.

Poor baby.....

Just some funny pictures of the kids lovin on their baby brother!

Adriann's hair cut!

We decided to cut Adriann's hair. It was become rat nesty in the back when she would wake up and hates to brush her hair, so we got it cut. She loves it and I love it because it is so easy for her to take care of.

Seriously? How does this happen?

The picture speaks for itself, but doesn't do justice to what it actually looked like. I haven't a clue how or WHY Kenyon got gum all over his face. I had to actually pull the car over and use baby wipes to get it out of his eyelashes! It was so sticky. Needless to say he was banned from having gum for a while!

My Mother's Day gift

Yeah I know this is late, but I had to show what Akoni got me for Mother's day! Since my hand mixer melted when I was trying to make the cookie dough for mother's day at church, I finally decided that I do need one of these. I've been putting it off for years, but I'm so glad that I have one now. And that's Kenyon helping me put the flour into the cookie dough.

Summer Break.....the beginning

I haven't posted for way too long. So here's what we have been up to. I watched my friends two kids for a week, just during the days, and we had a blast. We did craft and went swimming and lots of other stuff. Here's the kids at the pool.
